Free Rabies Clinics | Washington County, NY - Official Website. Rabies
clinics are held for animals throughout the year. New York State requires a
current rabies vaccine for every dog, cat, or ferret. These clinics are held
at various locations in the county. All Clinics are By Appointment.
Registration Required. No Walk-ins.
New York State law requires that all dogs four (4) months of age or older that reside in the state for more than 30 days be licensed in the municipality where they live. Dog licenses must be renewed annually.
To obtain or renew a dog license, please bring the following to the Town Clerk’s Office:

Proof of current rabies vaccination

A spay/neuter certificate, if applicable
The license tag and rabies tag must be worn on your dog’s collar at all times. For added safety, it is also recommended that your dog wear a personal identification tag with a phone number in case your dog becomes lost.

Dogs: Strays and Impoundments
The Town’s Dog Control Officer (DCO) is responsible for
enforcing New York State Agriculture & Markets Law (Article 7) and the
Town’s local dog control code. The DCO responds to issues such as dogs
running at large and reports of dangerous dogs.
When a dog is seized or impounded for violations of state law or the Town Code, the DCO will complete a Dog Seizure and Disposition Report and file it with the Town Clerk’s Office.
Before a dog can be released, the owner must:

Pay all applicable impoundment and housing fees to the Town Clerk

Provide proof of a valid dog license

Provide proof of current rabies vaccination
Payments and documentation must be submitted at the Town Office, 6 Michigan
Street, Hudson Falls, NY.

Dog Bites and Scratches for Both Wild and
Domestic Animals
In New York State, you are required to report any potential human rabies
exposures to the local Health Department, regardless of rabies vaccination
status.
